It has been my (rather unsuccessful) quest to find friends here in Boise. It is far more depressing than anything else because it's so steady of an issue. Over a year I've been here, and I'm just now starting to have activities that include other adults and aren't just Dylan and I. It's a first step - hopefully develops into a connection that extends beyond the fact that we all have children. I have to admit, I'm a little dubious. Some of the ladies seem nice, but I am not sure if we'll have enough in common. Who knows. I'm not going to lose hope.
It was so wonderful to have conversations with adults this weekend and have Dylan running around with kids. It's a new stage for him - usually he requires me to play with him, so I am the mom entertaining everyone's kid while the other parents discuss the issues. But, he's gotten confident enough to run around without me. We had a retirement party on Friday and and ice cream social on Saturday. Then, we had a BBQ with our downstairs neighbor that night.
We also hit the farmer's market before the ice cream social. The fountain was up and working and Dylan & I both got to enjoy a refreshing little dip.
